Why choose Love?

Love can truly heal.

I am not just referring to couples falling in love or having sexual intimacy.  I am referring to Love as a physiology that has the capacity to reestablish our balance and flow, so that we can lead happier and healthier lives.

Innately, we are all born with a stress or fear response, an unconscious and automatic response that is built into our physiology to react to challenges and threats that our brain perceives we cannot handle.  This is stress: the perception of being challenged by something we perceive we cannot handle.

In life, we are constantly being faced with such challenges. Some of these challenges are tangible and some intangible to our conscious mind as they can be psychological, emotional, physical, physiological, based on the past or based on the future.  In other words, we experience stress daily and constantly cause our fear response to go off.  When the fear response fires without rest, our system breaks down and this is what leads us to develop physical and psychological problems.

Innately, we are also born with a buffering mechanism, that can keep this fear response in check, so that it fires only when necessary and not for too long.  This buffering mechanism is the Love Response.  The more often this Love Response fires, the more buffering we give to the stress we experience in our lives, the more balanced our system stays and the healthier and more resilient we become.

My goal is for you to learn how to access the Love that heals.

You get to make the choice—to stay in fear or shift into Love.  If you decide to shift into Love, I can offer you the practical tools that can reprogram your mind and body to create that shift back into Love.  The more you practice these tools, the more you shift into Love, the more your mind and body will remember wellness.

Remembering wellness is a way to reprogram the mind and body to go back to experiencing that which feels good, rather than what feels bad or negative.  It also refers to remembering that we came into this earth in purity, god-like, and remembering that pure state of love and being loved.

What is the physiology of love?

Stress and love coexist.  With stress, reactive physiological changes are evoked by the stress response, enhancing negative emotions, behaviors and actions.  Love, in contrast, induces positive physiological changes by evoking the relaxation response and enhancing positive emotions, behaviors and actions.  Where stress is based on the notion that one is alone and lacking necessary resources, love is based on the notion that one is not separate, but part of a larger whole and has access to sufficient resources to handle uncertainty.  With stress, equilibrium is difficult to maintain. With love, equilibrium is the result.

Living organisms maintain homeostasis using the stress response as an adaptive mechanism involving multiple systems working in concert to extinguish the stressors and then to extinguish the stress response itself.  With adaptive regulation of the stress response, the stressor is extinguished, equilibrium is maintained, adaptive coping is established, and the effects are beneficial.  With maladaptation, or dysregulation of the stress response, equilibrium is not maintained and often, the consequences may be pathological and/or harmful, leading to a variety of physical and psychological problems.

Improved coping is correlated with improved stress response regulation and health outcomes.  Love in all its aspects improves coping as evidenced in clinical practice and current research. Self-care, self-love, and social love enhance positive outlook and expand the ability to experience meaning and belief through Spiritual Love.
